With the world getting smaller and smaller between her, Steve and Gwen, Celine grows more and more concerned of the possibility that her secret is bound to be discovered. Apparently, Steve himself is starting to doubt Gwen’s real identity. Somehow, he gets the inkling that the young lady is in fact his own daughter, so he decides to confront Celine about this. Immediately, Celine denies the said allegation. And in order to avoid unwanted revelations in the near future, she then decides to send Gwen away for studies abroad. And since she doesn’t want to go, Gwen then decides to run away with her Tita Astrud’s help; but before they could even hook up, a group of kidnappers relentlessly takes her away. Celina experiences severe abdominal pains while at work; and to make matters worse, blood starts dripping down her legs. Upon seeing her new employee’s predicament, Celine rushes her to the hospital; and there both of them learn that cancer cells are starting to spread in Celina’s ovaries, so the doctors insistently suggest that they have to be removed as soon as possible. After hearing of the bad news, Celina starts falling in great depression. Apparently, undergoing the necessary medical procedure that will cure her illness will relentlessly take away her ability to bear a child. [ Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo ]

Celina applies for a job in Celine's pre-school. And since Frank has so much gratitude towards Steve, he then hires her on the spot. On the other hand, Ringgo gets into another trouble. Apparently, Gwen sneaked out together with him once again. And before the night came to an end, he engages in a heated argument with one of his sister's friends. [ Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo ]

In order to straighten up Gwen, Celine forces her to take up a summer job in her pre-school. She defends this decision by explaining that her daughter has to learn to take responsibility, most especially now that almost everyone around her is continuously pampering her. On the other hand, Frank finally agrees to settle down in Manila. Apparently, Celina had convinced him to stay so that they could closely look after Robbie, while searching for better career opportunities. [ Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo ]

Ringgo gets heated up after Robbie's drunken friend challenged him for a car race. Immediately, he speeds up in the middle of an empty highway. To his surprise, a truck suddenly comes out from the intersection, thus immediately causing him to lose control of the wheel. Upon seeing the predicament, Robbie immediately gets out from the car to help. And to his relief, both Gwen and Ringgo survive their car's unfortunate crash. [ Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo ]

Celine and Steve’s paths are bound to cross once again. Aside from her daughter Gwen and his brother-in-law Robbie’s rather unlikely meeting in a coffee shop, Celine herself gets up close and personal with Steve’s wife, Celina, during a teachers’ convention. Thinking that she might come across Steve anytime in the said conference hall, she insistently avoids staying around for too long; but to her surprise, the more she tries avoiding it, the closer she gets towards an unwanted encounter. Celine tries her best to be a good mother to Gwen; but to her dismay, her daughter only ends up hating her than ever. Apparently, Astrud’s plan to subtly win Gwen’s confidence is a raging success; surprisingly, the young lady even admits to her that she would rather have her as a mom over Celine. On the other hand, Robbie gets shot. Being an aspiring honorable policeman that he is, he tries stopping a deranged man from shooting an innocent driver, thus leading to his unfortunate predicament. To Frank’s delight, Celine gets pregnant; but surprisingly, the latter isn’t exactly as excited as he is. Apparently, she is pretty certain that the kid in her womb isn’t Frank’s--it is actually Steve’s. On the other hand, Steve somehow gets a kid of his own. Incidentally, he meets a poor orphan in Cebu named Robbie; and while waiting for the kid’s elder sister Celina to fly back home, he volunteers to temporarily adopt him. Surprisingly, aside from finding Robbie’s legal guardian upon Celina’s return, Steve also ends up finding himself a loving wife. [ Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo ]

With Frank’s body nowhere to be found, Celine is then left with no other choice but to assume that her husband is finally dead. Now that she’s a widow, she once and for all decides to move on with her life. Surprisingly, her goal is made easy by Steve’s sudden entry in her life; but unfortunately, their love affair is immediately cut short by Frank’s rather unexpected return. A rather unfortunate event brings Steve and Celine’s paths together. An airplane crash leads them towards the same place while searching for two different people--Celine for her husband Frank who was then flying the aircraft turned to rubbles; and Steve for a fugitive who was reported to be one of the same plane’s passengers. It is a truly devastating event for Celine; and to further add injury to her loss, she once and for all discovers from her husbands recovered belongings that he is in fact the father of Astrud’s son, Ringgo.
